RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) – Flags in Virginia will be lowered Wednesday in honor of an Army Lieutenant from Richmond who was found dead in Africa.
United States Army 1st Lieutenant Kendrick Lamont Key, Jr. and Spc. Mariyah Symone Collington died during training exercises in Morocco.
Governor Abigail Spanberger released the following statement “in memory and respect of United States Army 1st Lieutenant Kendrick Lamont Key, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, whose life of service, courage, and sacrifice exemplified the highest ideals of military service.”
“Lieutenant Key joined Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, where he served as a platoon leader. He was known for the care he showed his Soldiers and a commitment to others that earned the respect and adoration of everyone who served beside him.…
