LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A 78-year-old U.S. Army veteran in Lafayette, Mr. Livingston Fontenelle, is at risk of losing his home of 30 years due to an inability to cover $7,000 in closing costs. Brigitte Menard and Jaylin Traore are actively working to raise the necessary funds to prevent his impending homelessness.
Mr. Fontenelle has lived in his current home for three decades. He has secured the financing required to purchase the property but does not have the additional $7,000 needed to finalize the closing process. If these funds are not obtained, Mr. Fontenelle faces the real possibility of becoming homeless.
Menard, one of the Good Samaritans assisting Mr. Fontenelle, described him as a dedicated community member. “He’s a great citizen that has served his country,” Menard said. “He also worked retired with League and so he’s just been a community hero as well. And he’s he loves his country. And we feel like we want to get involved to help him to not be homeless.”…
