Roughly 1,360 acres of rural Sedgwick County farmland could become one of the largest solar installations in the region if a pending conditional use application clears its remaining hurdles—and the fight over it has already drawn 34 public speakers and a formal resolution of opposition from a nearby city.
The project site, according to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission’s agenda materials, spans 1,359.6 acres of land zoned RR Rural Residential in unincorporated Sedgwick County, generally bounded by S. 119th St. W., W. 71st St. S., S. 151st St. W., and W. 87th St. S.
