Sal Y Limón Modern Taqueria has quietly turned into one of the Salt Lake Valley’s most talked-about taco counters, thanks to hand-pressed corn tortillas, mesquite-charred proteins and a salsa bar that does not stop at mild or medium. The Midvale spot has now pushed downtown, opening a second outpost at City Creek Center this summer. Early visitors say the mix of careful technique and relatively accessible prices has already made it an easy repeat for both lunch and dinner.
As reported by Axios, writer Kim Bojórquez called out the Midvale shop’s mesquite asada, carnitas and chicken street tacos, and singled out the nixtamalized corn tortillas as “the star of the show.” The Axios piece also highlighted a generously stocked salsa bar that runs from traditional choices to a less expected habanero-beet salsa.
A recent Axios review described the street tacos as “reasonably priced at under $4,” but the restaurant’s online menu now lists a la carte carnitas, chicken and pastor tacos at $4.66 each, with a taco plate starting at $12.49.
