PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A 33-year-old man was arrested after he attacked a work crew and threw a knife at responding officers on Monday afternoon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
At about 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault near Northeast Brazee Street and Northeast 122nd Avenue. Police say a man, later identified as Stephen T. Scazzafavo, threatened a work crew in the area. He allegedly struck one worker with a bike pump and repeatedly hit the crew’s work vehicle as they tried to leave.
Officers arrived to the scene and located Scazzafavo. As they tried to take him into custody, police say Scazzafavo threw at knife at officers. No officers were hit, but the knife struck and damaged the windshield of a patrol car.
Scazzafavo then fled on foot while continuing to threaten officers with a metal hiking stick and flashlight that functions as a stun gun, according to police. He was eventually taken into custody…
