PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With temperatures expected to rise near the triple digits this week and an advisory already in place, Multnomah County is working to provide a safe space for those looking to escape the heat.
On Tuesday, Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson declared a state of emergency that will last until 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
Between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., people in Multnomah County will be able to get free rides from TriMet if they are traveling to a cooling center.
