More public transit cuts could be on the way for Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority riders. The agency is considering a new round of cuts, even before previously approved service reductions take effect next month.
Greater Cleveland RTA is now proposing an additional 4.9% service reduction to save the agency $4.1 million, in addition to the 3 percent reduction taking effect in August. RTA is working to plug a $30-million budget hole.
“Service reductions would account for $17 million of those $30 million in cost reductions that we are undertaking,” Deputy General Manager of Finance Rajan Gautam said. “$13 million would be from other expense reductions, as we continue to review what those reductions [are] and where they will come from.”…
