On Saturday, June 27, the John Chavis Historical Society Scholarship Committee met at the Richard H. Thornton Library to award the JCHS Scholarship for 2026.
The JCHS program started with a welcome and prayer by Baba Kerr, the Scholarship Committee chairman/co-president. The three awardees, Angel Smith, Bryant Roberts and Azavlon Royster, were then presented by Kerr to those present at the function. They were congratulated by everyone, including their family members.
Kerr gave them words of encouragement. He then encouraged them to use this opportunity to educate themselves for their future careers…
