A gated Opa-Locka townhome community turned into a crime scene Monday night when a man was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery inside the Mirage at Sailboat Cove complex, police said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue medics responded and treated the victim at the scene. Opa-Locka police have opened an investigation and urged neighbors to come forward with any information.
According to a police news release reported by Local 10, officers were called after several unknown men approached the man and attempted to rob him. One of the suspects fired a single shot that struck the victim in the leg, the release said, and the Opa-Locka Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is handling the probe. Local 10 noted that police released few details as the investigation continues.
