SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Many things about the Cyclosporiasis outbreak are still unknown. Some are avoiding lettuce altogether, while others are asking more questions about where their food comes from.
KY3 spoke with those who specialize in selling produce to see if they’ve noticed a shift since the outbreak began.
“I’ve seen the effect of people just not eating any lettuce from anywhere. And then I’ve also seen people wanting to know more about exactly where their food comes from,” Dan Bigbee, owner of Fassnight Creek Farms, says people feel more at ease when there’s a connection with the source. “That’s probably the appeal of the farmers markets and the farm here is you can have a more direct link to your grower.”…
