State approves new $231 million hospital to replace Touchette in Cahokia Heights

SIHF Healthcare has received state approval to build a new $231 million hospital to replace Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights.

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board voted 8-0 Tuesday to approve the project, SIHF announced in a news release. The board is charged with keeping health care costs in check and preventing unnecessary duplication of health facilities.

The new, 108-bed Touchette hospital is planned on 35 acres of farmland at 1928 Sandy Ridge Road, near Interstate 255 and Camp Jackson Road. Construction is expected to begin in March 2027…
