A Major Outdoor Retailer Is Closing Its Boston Store After 23 Years

REI Co-op will close its Boston store next month, reducing its number of East Coast locations. The outdoor recreation retailer is preparing for the closure after more than two decades of operations. Customers have until July 29, 2026, to place their final online orders.

REI Co-op to Close Boston Store in August

According to an official website, REI Co-op will close its store at 401 Park Dr, Ste 103 on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The retail company thanked the Boston community for their support through the last 23 years. The company did not provide a reason for the closure in its notice.

Customers can place online orders for in-store pickup at the Boston location through July 29, 2026. The store will remain open until August 13, allowing customers to pick up existing orders and any bikes, skis, or snowboards awaiting collection before the location permanently shutters.
