LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — If you think the cost of eating out is too high, step back in time to when coffee and breakfast cost less than a dollar.
A pop-up eatery called the DailyPay Diner will bring the 1930s back to New York City for a limited time on Wednesday and Thursday, showcasing a time when drinks, sandwiches and pancakes only cost between 5 to 25 cents.

Guests will step into an immersive experience complete with vintage décor, interactive exhibits and complimentary food and drinks from the menu.
The diner comes by way of the on-demand pay system DailyPay to educate the public about the origins of the traditional paycheck and to spark discussions about what the future of pay could look like.

“Today’s pay system was designed nearly a century ago,” said Chief Brand & Communications Officer Caitlin Allen in a statement. “We’ve changed the way we live, work and manage our money, but the way most people get paid has remained the same. We created the DailyPay Diner to challenge a system that no longer reflects the way people live and work.”
