CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — A Chandler family’s vacation turned into a medical emergency after a tabletop fire pit they purchased online reportedly exploded, catching two children on fire and sending them to the hospital by air transport.
The Petersen family was enjoying a night of roasting marshmallows at their condo in Oceanside when the tabletop fireplace, a product called the FlikrFire, suddenly began shooting fireballs, setting people on fire.
“All of a sudden, a huge fireball came out of the roaster, and it lit my son up like a torch,” Jon Petersen said. “I got really scared. And that’s when I was screaming, ‘Somebody help.’”
