Rabies advisory issued in Sarasota after infected raccoon killed on Proctor Road

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Sarasota County has issued a rabies advisory after an infected racoon was killed near Proctor Road Monday, the Department of Health announced.

Officials said the single case of rabies was confirmed after the raccoon was killed on the corner of Grove Point Boulevard and Proctor Road on July 21.

“All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies may be currently present in the wild animal population,” the advisory said…
