RIO RANCHO — The stopgap solution proposed in December for the intersection of NM 528 and Pasilla Road/Riverside Drive has been put into place.
According to the the New Mexico Department of Transportation, delineators and new striping were recently installed to enhance visibility and for overall traffic control, eliminating left turns from the roadways onto the highway. They also prevent the direct crossing of the highway.
The proposal was presented to the Rio Rancho Governing Body in December as an interim solution to concerns with the intersection — which saw a fatal accident in 2024 — and calls for a stoplight following a community meeting and various traffic studies…
