CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — If you have spent anytime on Chickamauga or Nickajack lakes, no doubt at some point you’ve seen an abandoned or sunken boat in a slough or along the shoreline. Brian Lee, the owner of TowBoatUS, said he has documented at least 50 such abandoned vessels.
“I’ve got a separate, growing list on Watts Bar that is probably almost equal to that,” said Lee.
He, and most other boaters, say the abandoned and sunken boats are an eyesore and in some cases, a safety issue.
But Lee says, on the Tennessee River, there is no one willing to take the responsibility for removing those derelict vessels…
