KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A stalled cold front eventually exits today, bringing a brief break in the high heat and humidity.
THURSDAY: A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for counties along and south of I-40 are still dealing with continuous downpours, especially the first part of the day. Rainfall rates have already added up, leading to localized flooding south of Knoxville. Sun will break out in areas north of I-40, while clouds linger in the southern Plateau, foothills and Smokies at least through early afternoon. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s by the afternoon.
FRIDAY: A few isolated showers cannot be ruled out to end out the week. Since there won’t be a significant break from Wednesday-Thursday’s rainfall, flooding could still pose a risk. Still plenty of dry time, but keep the umbrella handy. Highs climb to the middle 80s…
