The sound of heavy machinery is echoing through Great Northern Mall in Clay as demolition begins, offering a glimpse of what remains of the once-bustling shopping destination and signaling that long-discussed redevelopment is moving forward.
“It’s a part of history I watch my kids grow up,” said Pat Koniz, a Cicero neighbor. “All things must come to an end.”
