TOWN OF GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The driver who hit a woman out for her daily walk was a volunteer firefighter for Solvay responding to a call, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to NewsChannel 9.
The firefighter was driving from his home to the Solvay fire station, where he intended to hop on a fire truck and respond to a garage fire in the town of Van Buren, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office added that while passing through a neighborhood only a few blocks from his home, the driver, still in his own car, hit a woman taking her daily walk through the intersection of South Terry and West Granger Roads…
