LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A Lafayette man was sentenced to 150 years in prison after being convicted of opening fire on three Lafayette police officers with an AR-15-style rifle when they responded to a domestic disturbance call, according to the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
District Judge Angie Wagar sentenced John Nicholas, 33, to three consecutive 50-year terms at hard labor for three counts of attempted first-degree murder, plus 20 years at hard labor for one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Wednesday, July 22.
