West-Wichita restaurant quietly closes after seven years in business

A west-side Thai restaurant that’s been in business for seven years quietly closed over the weekend.

Krua Thai, which opened in September 2017 at 7603 W. 21st St., appears to have had its last day on Sunday. Though messages I left for the owners were not returned, a sign posted on the door of the restaurant says it is permanently closed. (Actually, the sign says the restaurant closed on 7/19/2029, not 2026, but that appears to be a typo.)

“We are incredibly grateful for your patronage and the wonderful memories,” the sign reads. “Thank you for being a part of our family.”

The restaurant was originally opened by Ben Wongprom, Sam Sihanath and Ta Sihanath and modeled on Wongprom’s restaurant of the same name in Stuart, Florida. That restaurant appears to still be operating…
