LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The union representing North Las Vegas police supervisors said upcoming body camera footage will show officers used appropriate force while arresting the man accused of firing an AR-15-style rifle through a neighborhood before dying in police custody.
Andrew Regenbaum, speaking on behalf of the North Las Vegas Police Supervisors Association through the Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers, released a statement Wednesday to News 3 addressing the arrest of 39-year-old Daniel Lujan Jr.
Police said officers responded Sunday to reports of a man randomly firing an AR-15-style rifle in the 6000 block of Yellowhammer Place. Authorities said Lujan resisted arrest, became unresponsive after he was taken into custody, and later died at University Medical Center.
