BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The organization investigating Kern County’s Child Welfare System since the tragic killing of 8-year-old Genesis Mata in August is set to present its findings and recommendations before the Board of Supervisors next week.
The presentation is set to take place during the 9 a.m. meeting on July 28, according to the agenda — almost a year since Genesis’ father and stepmother were charged with abuse, torture and murder in her death and led to the county seeking third-party investigation into its own department.

The Social Policy Institute with the San Diego State University, which was hired to conduct an independent review into the county’s child welfare system, put together a 32-page final report titled “Child Welfare System Assessment: Investing in Well-being for Children, Youth, and Families.”
