RPD: Officers break up crowd of several hundred people gathering and fighting on Chili Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say they broke up a crowd of several hundred people on Thursday evening after fights broke out among the group.

Officers responded around 5 p.m. after learning about a crowd gathering at the corner of Thurston Road and Chili Avenue. Police say the crowd continued to grow and blocked traffic on Chili Avenue. Then, several fights broke out both among the crowd and in outlying areas.

Officers told the crowd to disperse, but say some people refused to leave. Police closed down Chili Avenue and Thurston Road while breaking up the crowd. RPD says no one reported any injuries and no one was arrested…
