SHREWSBURY – A Select Board member has put one issue at the top of his list: a wildlife corridor.
Anand Sharma, elected to the Select Board in May, has pressed town officials and state representatives on creating a “wildlife corridor” over high-traffic Shrewsbury corridors. Wildlife corridors are structures – typically bridges or tunnels – over or under roadways that allow animals to travel safely.
“Because of the growth and overdevelopment of the town, on most of the roads – Route 20, Route 140, Route 9 – the wildlife are getting into accidents every day,” Sharma said July 14. “In the last three weeks, I can say three deer have been killed. … I would like to know if you guys can help, with some kind of funding, for a wildlife corridor so they can have passage, and cross the road from one side to another.”…
