A 21-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting in his car in Edgewater early Friday, marking the neighborhood’s second homicide of the year, according to Chicago police.
The victim was sitting in a black Chevrolet in the 5100 block of North Winthrop Avenue when a man walked up and opened fire at about 12:24 a.m., according to a CPD media statement. One bullet struck the victim in the neck. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
