Cracker Barrel biscuit chain dwindles in San Antonio amid rebrand

Cracker Barrel acquired Maple Street Biscuit Company in 2019, and within a few years, multiple locations opened in San Antonio. The biscuit chain has since reversed course in the Alamo City after being sold again to a new company, leaving some customers wondering what happened to Maple Street.

On July 20, Cracker Barrel announced that it completed the sale of the Maple Street Biscuit Company trademark and 35 locations to Biscuit Belly, while also closing 16 locations. Two of those closures were in San Antonio, as the Maple Street Biscuit Company restaurants on Bulverde Road and at Quarry Village were shuttered. However, a single location in the city still exists near Alamo Ranch, according to a Biscuit Belly representative.

“Yes, we’re excited to meet the Alamo Ranch team and welcome them to our family!” the Biscuit Belly rep told MySA via email.

Remaining Maple Street Biscuit Company locations will eventually rebrand to align with Biscuit Belly, its new owner. According to Biscuit Belly, the process will take time, so for now, customers at the Alamo Ranch location can continue to visit the Maple Street Biscuit Company without interruption…
