Most people do not wait 90 minutes to eat at a gas station. Then again, Buc-ee’s has never been an ordinary gas station. The Texas-born travel center is part barbecue joint, bakery, souvenir shop, and roadside spectacle, all watched over by a smiling cartoon beaver.
Finally, Arizona now has one of its own.
Buc-ee’s opened its first location in the state on June 22, near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue in Goodyear. One draw is the 120 fueling positions outside; the other, and perhaps most important, is the 74,000-square-foot inside, which feels closer to a crowded food hall than convenience store…
