What began as a simple stop for tinted windows near Ruggles and Tremont streets in Roxbury on Thursday night ended with Boston police recovering a loaded revolver and arresting a 23-year-old Dorchester man, according to officials. The Youth Violence Strike Force reported that the handgun was loaded with four .25-caliber rounds and that the driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers said they first pulled the vehicle over after noticing heavily tinted windows that appeared to violate state law, and that the driver did not immediately stop, continuing for roughly 30 seconds before pulling over, according to a post from the Boston Police Department. Once officers ordered the occupants out of the car, they reported seeing a handgun in plain view and recovering a revolver loaded with four .25-caliber rounds.
Investigators processed the weapon but could not determine its make, model or serial number, the department wrote. The driver was identified as Walter Gonzalez III, 23, of Dorchester, and was taken into custody without further incident, according to the post.
