GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the long-awaited Wahlfield Dog Park took place Friday, hosted by community leaders and park donors.
Grand Rapids-area dog park to host grand opening event
The park is the first of its kind for Kent County. Community members from across the area showed up to celebrate the grand opening with their four-legged companions.
“Wahlfield Dog Park fills a need we’ve heard from the community for years,” Ben Swayze, director of the Kent County Parks Department, said in a statement. “The park’s nearly 300 acres have long been enjoyed for mountain biking and hiking, and the latest improvements expand recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages—and their dogs, too.”
Spanning 10 acres, the property includes a swimming pond fit with a beach and jumping dock, renovated trails, a dog washing station and fields of open space. Other updates include a newly renovated entrance, parking lot, pavilions and mountain bike trails…
