Monsoon storms, localized heavy rainfall possible this weekend

After yesterday’s round of storms, more are expected for today’s forecast. Drier conditions have settled in for this morning with temperatures falling into the 50s, 60s and 70s for most throughout the state. The monsoon high will still play an active role in this weekend’s forecast. Moisture will stream around the anticyclone, contributing to shower and thunderstorm development. Today’s showers and storms have the potential to bring gusty winds and localized heavy rainfall to some communities. Pockets of heavy rainfall could bring rainfall up to 0.5-1″, or more, which could cause a flash flooding concern. The National Weather Service (NWS) will issue multiple Flood Watches, starting at noon, for parts of Cibola, Catron, McKinely, San Juan Counties along with the Sacramento Mountains…
