Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will sign legislation Monday updating the County’s firearms law to comply with a Maryland Supreme Court ruling while maintaining many of the local gun restrictions still permitted under state law.
The bill signing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on July 27 at the Montgomery County Executive Office Building in Rockville.
Bill 23-26E, approved by the Montgomery County Council on July 21, preserves the County’s prohibition on carrying firearms near many sensitive public places, including schools, parks, libraries, polling places and houses of worship.
