WASHINGTON, DC — Severe weather is expected to return to the Washington region Thursday, bringing a Flood Watch and the chance for scattered strong storms by mid to late afternoon.
Conditions started cloudy with temperatures in the mid- to upper-70s, along with a few showers. The morning should stay mostly dry, but an isolated shower or stray thunderstorm could still develop.

Temperatures are forecast to rise into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees later Thursday, while humidity also increases. Showers may develop on and off through midday, but the more significant severe weather risk is expected to wait until after 2 p.m.
Forecasters say storms could affect the evening commute and continue through sunset.
