Dangerous heat continues to build

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Heat continues to be the primary weather concern across the Gulf Coast.

Afternoon temperatures in the lower to middle 90s combined with tropical humidity will produce dangerous heat index values between 103 and 108 degrees each afternoon.

Remember these heat safety tips:

  • Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
  • Take frequent breaks if working outdoors.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
  • Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle.
  • Check on elderly neighbors and anyone without adequate air conditioning.
  • Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, generally between noon and 6 p.m.
