WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A baby giraffe that made history at Tanganyika Wildlife Park, surviving a rare cesarean section, has been named.
The park announced Saturday that the premature calf will be called Milani — a name that means “new birth” or “new era” and represents the second chance at life she’s been given.
“Her name also honors Mili, the giraffe whose donated plasma played a vital role in saving her life,” the park wrote on Facebook. “Because of Mili’s extraordinary gift, Milani had a fighting chance.”
