A Ringwood man who works as a firefighter for the City of Paterson is facing drug and child endangerment charges after a 2-year-old boy suffered a cocaine overdose and had to be revived with Narcan during a Jersey Shore vacation, authorities said.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy identified the defendant as Alexander T. Moles, 39. The charges stem from an incident on July 20 when the North Wildwood Fire Department responded to the intersection of 21st Street and New Jersey Avenue for a report of a toddler in medical distress inside a vehicle.
According to the joint statement from the prosecutor and police chief, Moles was already driving the child toward a hospital when first responders arrived. The boy was having difficulty breathing.
