HONOLULU (KHON2) — Weather officials said Hurricane Fausto weakened into a Category 1 hurricane on Sunday morning and afternoon and said it will continue to weaken as it approaches the state.
But on Sunday afternoon, some impacts had already started.

“Our east and north sides, we’re hearing reports of waves 8-12 feet and we’re keeping an eye on it as well,” Mayor Kimo Alameda told KHON2 on Sunday afternoon while providing an update on the Kawaihae fire which has since been contained.
