A teenager was critically injured while walking along Archer Avenue near Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica on Thursday, July 23, when the driver of a Jeep jumped the curb and crashed into the boy before slamming into an apartment building.
Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call just before 7:45 p.m. reporting a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in front of 165-10 Archer Ave., where they found the 15-year-old boy sustained severe trauma to his left leg. EMS responded to the scene and rushed the injured youngster to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2020 Jeep Compass, operated by a 53-year-old woman, was traveling southbound on 165 Street making a left turn onto eastbound Archer Avenue when she jumped the curb and mounted the sidewalk where she stuck the teen on the sidewalk and the residential building before coming to a stop.
After first responders extricated the driver from her Jeep, she was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condtion with minor injuries, an NYPD spokesman said…
