Cambridge YMCA Gymnastics team excels at Nationals

CAMBRIDGE — A total of twenty-four gymnasts from the Cambridge YMCA recently traveled to Greensboro, N.C. for a national gymnastics championship. The level 2 and 3 teams finished as national champions against more than 150 teams.

National champions

The team finished with five all-around national champions: Ricky Stelzer, Sadie Callahan, Lucy Sebek, Abigail Carpenter and Skylar Kenworthy. There were 16 event national champions: Stelzer, Karter Miller, Callahan, Aleciah Swartz, Sebek, Britten Nealey, Carpenter, Charleigh Tilton and Skylar Kenworthy.

Level 2 winners

Parker Singleton placed fourth on bars, third on beam, eighth on floor and eighth in all-around. Stelzer won all-around, bars and floor, placed second on beam and ninth on vault. Miller won beam, placed third in all-around, fourth on bars, fifth on vault and seventh on floor. Sloane Harbin placed third on bars and beam, fifth in all-around, 10th on floor and 11th on vault. Charlotte Mazgay placed fourth on vault, fifth on bars and all-around, 10th on beam and 12th on floor. Callahan won bars, beam, floor and all-around, finishing fifth on vault. Swartz won bars, finished second on vault and all-around, fourth on floor and fifth on beam. Lila Faller placed third on bars and ninth in all-around. Averyanna Crawford placed 11th on vault.

Level 3 winners

Emma Evancho placed fourth on vault, fifth on floor, seventh in all-around, ninth on bars and 11th on beam. Sebek won all-around, bars, beam and floor, and placed second on vault. Nealey won vault, finished second in all-around, fifth on bars, ninth on beam and 10th on floor. Audrey Graham placed seventh on beam and all-around, ninth on vault and 10th on floor. Carpenter won all-around, beam and floor, finished fourth on bars and sixth on vault. Tilton won bars, placed third on vault and all-around, fifth on beam and sixth on floor. Trinity Gal won vault, placed third on bars, sixth in all-around and floor.

Level 4 winners, level 7 competitors

Laighla Boyd placed seventh in all-around and second on bars. Cruz Engstrom placed fourth on beam, and Khloe Wilson placed eighth on bars.

Skylar Kenworthy placed first in all-around, vault and beam, and second on bars. Sophia Johnston placed second on bars and all-around, and fifth on vault. Hailey Arnold placed fourth on beam and seventh on floor, and eighth on vault. Shiloh Blasenhauer also competed.
