Birmingham golfer Scarlett Schremmer seeking to continue strong year at US Women’s Amateur

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A move to the University of Miami is what Birmingham resident Scarlett Schremmer called the best possible decision she could have ever made.

Schremmer won the 99th Ladies National Golf Association Amateur Championship at Harrison Lake Country Club in Indiana on Thursday. She is back in Birmingham to prepare for the U.S. Women’s Amateur. The tournament will be held at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee, from Aug. 4-9.

“My ball striking was really good last week,” Schremmer said. “I put in a lot of work with my swing coach Jim McLean this past semester in Miami, so I think it was really nice to see that pay off, and I had a lot of close looks for birdie.”…
