LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Community members are calling for action after a 15-year-old who was recognized as a hero is now a victim of gun violence. Police say he was shot by another teen.
Da’Jon Hayes Burr was shot in the 3800 block of Alford Ave. around 8 p.m. Saturday night. On Sunday, police arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him with murder. LMPD is not releasing his name because he’s a minor.
The 15-year-old victim, Da’Jon Hayes-Burr, had just been recognized by officials for his act of bravery at Thunder Over Louisville in April. That’s when he intervened during an altercation at Waterfront Park involving a 12-year-old girl being assaulted. Hayes Burr was stabbed in the process of trying to help her, and later recognized by Louisville Metro Council.
