Rescuers search for trapped contractors in Downers Grove storm drain amid intense storms

A heavy emergency response and rescue effort was underway in Downers Grove Monday as intense storms pummeled the region.

Village officials said police officers were flagged down by workers just before 1 p.m. Monday in a construction area in the 800 block of Curtiss Street. The workers told police two contractors were trapped in a storm sewer below the street.
