NORTH CAROLINA — A strong approaching mid-level shortwave trough and attendant cold front will allow for the risk of potentially strong to severe storms Tuesday across North Carolina. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire state under a Level 2 out of 5 risk, mainly for the afternoon into the early overnight hours. If ingredients come fully together, a few strong to severe storms with gusty to damaging winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, though that risk remains low.
