(WHTM) – Emilie Delaye of Camp Hill is on a mission to make medical devices fashionable. Her new company, Nova Medical Wearables, aims to give confidence and comfort to the chronically ill. The designs are inspired by Delaye’s own experiences.
Delaye is a Fashion and Apparel Studies master’s student at the University of Delaware. She conducted a study to determine the clothing needs people with chronic illnesses have. Nova Medical Wearables offers PICC Line Covers in seven different colors. The material used to make them is eco-recycled spandex and nylon.
“I, after the chronic illness study that I had done, and actually had to get a port and then a pic put in myself, and so I was really confronted very bluntly with the fact that medical devices are ugly,” Delaye said…
