Lexington mom arrested after toddlers hospitalized from eating ‘hemp gummies’

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lexington mother has been arrested after allegedly leaving “hemp gummies” where her two children could access them before they were hospitalized for overdosing.

Court documents show that around 12:15 p.m. on July 26, first responders with Lexington’s police and fire departments were dispatched to the 200 block of Simba Way in response to reports of an overdose involving two toddlers.

Authorities said the two children, about three and four years of age, were taken to UK Chandler Hospital unconscious after “ingesting hemp gummies.”

A special victims investigator spoke with the children’s mother, identified as 30-year-old Courtney Johnson of Lexington, who said she’d opened a new container of 25 “hemp-infused gummies and took one before going to sleep.”…
