GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Some historic cannonballs stolen from Fort Morgan were found in a passenger’s checked bag at Gulf Shores International Airport.

According to the Transportation Security Administration, five cannonballs, the biggest of which were the size of grapefruits, were found on July 18 after a TSA officer saw what he believed were medicine balls on his X-ray machine.
At first, the TSA officer and supervisor did not know if they were explosive devices, so they contacted the area’s TSA explosives specialist and assistant federal security director for law enforcement.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was also made aware of the situation and responded to the airport…
