A new report from the N.C. Chamber Foundation says the state’s maritime economy extends well beyond the deepwater ports of Wilmington and Morehead City, with northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks playing a major role through ferries, working waterfronts, boatbuilding, seafood, marine industrial parks, research institutions and inland waterways.
The report, “North Carolina’s Maritime Assets: Working Waterfronts, Waterways, and Supply Chain Competitiveness,” was released as part of the foundation’s strategic supply chain assets research series.
