At 4 a.m., long before most of Brea Mall raises its gates, the lights are already on at its newest anchor. Inside Life Time Brea, early risers can move through a strength workout, settle into a yoga class or claim a quiet corner of the work lounge before the day begins. Life Time officially opened the North Orange County athletic country club on July 9, marking the company’s 10th California location and fourth in Orange County. The scale makes clear that “gym” is only part of the equation.
The three-acre destination encompasses nearly 123,000 square feet: an 85,000-square-foot building paired with approximately 38,000 square feet of outdoor amenities. Across the property, fitness areas share space with swimming pools, pickleball courts, recovery suites, children’s programming, dining and places designed for members to work or simply stay awhile.
Summer makes the outdoor Beach Club the immediate draw. Its resort-inspired setup includes a leisure pool with waterslides, a six-lane lap pool, cabanas, lounge chairs and an outdoor dining area and bar. It gives families a place to spend an afternoon while lap swimmers can keep a structured training routine.
Aquatics programming also arrives at a useful time for parents thinking about water safety. Life Time offers swim lessons for children, building skills that can translate beyond the club’s pools to Southern California’s beaches, lakes and backyard gatherings. Parents should still provide active supervision and use properly fitted flotation devices when appropriate; lessons strengthen water competency but never replace an attentive adult.
