Agreement between leadership, department led to former fire chief’s departure

CHELSEA, MI – The former chief of Chelsea’s fire department left the agency after the finalization of a separation agreement, according to officials.

A separation agreement between Chief Robert Arbini and the Chelsea Area Fire Authority was finalized June 14, launching a formal search process for a new chief, the authority confirmed Monday. The authority had previously confirmed Arbini was no longer heading the department, but would not clarify the details of his departure.
